«Dune», the premiere of the film (with Timothée Chalamet) will be in Venice

Despite the organizational uncertainty that Covid-19 still brings with it, the Film Festival of Venice managed to announce its first global resonance title. Dune, the long-awaited remake of Denis Villeneuve, will have its premiere at the Lido, where the traditional Festival of the seventh art will be inaugurated on the first of September and will end twelve days later.

The film, with Timothée Chalamet to star opposite Zendaya, Josh Brolin and Stellan Skarsgård, he should have had different timelines.

In the world as it was before the pandemic slowed it down, Villeneuve had promised a faster debut. «End of 2020», he said, anticipating – probably – the possibility of competing at the Oscars. The Coronavirus, however, got in the way, forcing the director to accept, helplessly, the inevitable expansion of production times. Dune, remake of the film of the same name, directed by David Lynch in 1984, was thus optioned by the seventy-eighth Venice Film Festival, whose godmother will be Serena Rossi.
