“Dune: The Prophecy”: Max’s prequel gets new trailer and date; check it out

THE Max released this Thursday (17) a new preview of “Dune: The Prophecy “, a serious prelude to the films directed by Dennis Villeneuve . Production arrives on the platform in November 17th this year.

“Dune: The Prophecy” takes place 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides the protagonist of the original story of “Dune“. The title will explore the universe of the Bene Gesserit, a group of women with supernatural abilities, before they received that name.

The cast of the series is made up of Emily Watson (“Waves of Destiny”), Olivia Williams (“The Sixth Sense”), Mark Strong (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”), Travis Fimmel (“Vikings”) and others. Announced in 2019, the production does not yet have a premiere date confirmed by the channel.

The book “Dune”, written by Frank Herbert, has already been adapted into two films in theaters. The first, named after the classic work, was released in 2021. The second, “Dune: Part 2”, hit the big screen at the beginning of this year.

Recently, Denis Villeneuve stated that, although he is writing the script for “The Messiah of Dune”, the franchise will not be a trilogy. He explained that “Dune” (2021) and “Dune: Part 2” (2024) adapt Frank Herbert’s first work, and the third film could be independent.

“First, it’s important that people understand that for me it was really a diptych. It was really a pair of films that was an adaptation of the first book. This is done and ready,” he said. “If I do a third, it won’t be like a trilogy. It’s strange to say this, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”
