Dutch prosecutors consider lawsuit against Booking over properties it rents in Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories

Dutch prosecutors are investigating a lawsuit filed by a Dutch non-governmental organization, SOMO, against Booking.com because the latter has included in its list of properties it rents some located in Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories, the prosecutor's office announced today. SOMO said it filed the complaint with the Dutch prosecutor's office in November along with three other human rights organizations, but had not made it public until now. In their petition, the three organizations accuse Booking.com of “profiting from war crimes by facilitating the rental of vacation homes in lands seized from the indigenous Palestinian population.” Prosecutors are reviewing the report but cannot give a timetable for a decision on possible next steps, said spokeswoman Breje van de Musditch.
