Disqualified for “inappropriate behavior”. And so, Dutch singer Joost Klein will not participate in the Eurovision final in Malmo. In an official note, the EBU which organizes the event, announces that the Swedish police are investigating the complaint presented by a woman from the production crew, after an “incident which occurred following her performance in the semi-final on Thursday evening”. While waiting for the investigation to proceed, the organizers explain, “it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the competition”.
But what exactly happened? According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, which had anticipated the news of the investigation, the accusation against Joost Klein is of “having been violent with a woman from television production”. The investigations are now underway: “We have heard witnesses and adopted other investigative measures”, the investigators told the newspaper. According to reports, Joost was involved in a fight backstage and had a heated argument with a photographer. But there is no confirmation.
The only certainty is that Joost Klein has become one of the protagonists of this edition of Eurovision. He had already attracted the attention of the media when at the press conference, annoyed by the fact of being seated next to the Israeli artist Eden Golan, he covered his head with the Dutch flag. A case was then created around him, with rich reconstructions of his disappearance: yesterday, in fact, he didn't show up for the afternoon rehearsals and it seemed he was untraceable.
