DxOMark, come on, goodbye! New lab promises honest camera reviews

After the DxOMark lab published a devastating review of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra camera, it became known that the Chinese are preparing to launch a local analogue with honest reviews.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra lost out to many smartphones, including last year’s Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which once again sparked a wave of criticism in which users accuse DxOMark of venality. The laboratory has repeatedly changed its approach to testing, often raising older smartphones much higher in the ranking than at the time of their release.

Despite this, in recent years, the DxOMark test results have been used by many manufacturers to advertise the photo and video capabilities of their smartphones. Sources say Taier lab is recruiting specialists and plans to create CTMark as a Chinese alternative to DxOMark.

The China Taier Laboratory was founded in 1981, it is part of the Telecommunication Research Institute and is authorized by the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the People’s Republic of China and the General Directorate of Quality Supervision. It is an organization that brings together communications technology research, communications product standards, test methods, and communications software testing and product validation.
