Earth Day, sustainable beauty initiatives and eco-oriented brands

Green is the new black: support for the environment not only never goes out of fashion but strengthens every year the commitment of sectors such as that of beauty increasingly converted to the cause. The climate emergency, in fact, is becoming more and more serious and that is why, every year, World Earth Day, which occurs on April 22, acquires an increasingly important significance. Established in 1970, it gathers millions of people around the world in support of the environment, highlighting the urgent actions to be taken to save the planet.

The world of beauty is not just watching but wondering, trying to change habits.

TAKE CARE OF THE PLANET AND YOURSELF
After all, Earth Day is the perfect day to take a break and reflect on how you can play a more important role in protection of the Planet by starting to make changes to your beauty routine. Because even small changes can make a difference. In addition to recycling, there are many initiatives that the beauty universe offers e choices to make to lead a more eco-conscious lifestyle. Today there is greater awareness that taking care of the planet also means taking care of the well-being of the skin and the well-being of the person.

WHAT HAPPENS IN ITALY
Even in Italy, something, indeed, a lot has changed: about one in two Italians (46%) considers the aspect of sustainability and respect for the environment to be extremely important when it comes to choosing, for example, the salon in which to book your treatment. This is what emerges from a survey conducted by Treatwell and Uala, a leader in Europe in the online booking of beauty and wellness services, which on the occasion of Earth Day wanted to investigate the link between beauty and sustainability.

Probably thanks to the pandemic, which has increased the awareness of many regarding environmental issues, an increasingly ethical beauty emerges: over half of Italians (53%) declare that they rely on a salon that uses products eco-friendly for at least one of the treatments you book. The salons that increasingly offer a range of green services respond to a growing demand for environmentally friendly treatments: + 48% compared to 2018 and + 25% only in the last year among must have of organic treatments can not miss hair coloring).

SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY, THE OFFER EXTENDS
From the brand deluxe to that indie, from the cosmetic giant to the small family business, brands from all over the world, including Italy, are implementing a green revolution that involves formulas, packs and industrial sites with a lower impact on the environment. Many specific initiatives for Earth Day and the lines dedicated to environmental issues, as well as news eco-oriented (like the first makeup pencil that plants and sprouts after use!). Many, then, are already celebs who have been doing a long time ago refresh green to their beauty routine, from Gwyneth Paltrow a Reese Whiterspoon, da Pryankha Chopra a Jessica Alba (whose brand Honest Beauty confirms himself among the most virtuous), just to name a few.
