An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale which struck southwest China’s Yunnan province yesterday, killing three people and injuring 27, state television said today.
According to CCTV, the quake was followed by aftershocks.
Citing authorities, he said road sections had collapsed and landslides had disrupted some transport lines, but electricity, telephones and the internet were working.
In a tweet, state media Global Times reported that a state of emergency had been declared and rescue operations had been launched in Dali, a city of 134,000 people in Yunnan Province, about 24km from the epicenter.

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake also shook the province of Qinghai in western China on Saturday, CCTV reported.
