Easter eggs don’t just contain special surprises. But values of solidarity, sharing, support, hope. That, in fact, chocolate is good is a fact, but some chocolates that are doubly good, because they help support beneficial causes. On the occasion of the second and hopefully last Easter in lockdown, there are many non-profit organizations and NGOs that can be helped by buying their milk or dark chocolate eggs.
Among the many, there is also the campaign “An egg for research” of OPEN. The non-profit organization has been involved for years in supporting scientific research on pediatric cancer. That this year, alongside the milk or dark chocolate ones, we add the hand-made ceramic lucky charms.
Not only that, the big news this year is the Author’s dove (available in orange or apricot pellecchiella del Vesuvio flavors). It was created by two of the greatest exponents of Campania gastronomy: the two-star Michelin Chef Gennaro Esposito and the Master Pastry Chef Carmine Di Donna. Both who took up the OPEN challenge by supporting “Proof-of-concept”Of the G. Gaslini Institute of Genoa.
The final goal of the project, extremely relevant for pediatric oncology and for the National Health Service, is to translate the results into clinical practice. The proposed combinatorial immunotherapy approach is very promising. And it could help reduce toxicity and improve the clinical outcome of NB and other B7-H3 positive cancers.
«In this Easter at the gates everyone has done their part. Di Donna and I a spectacular dessert. Now it’s up to the people to contribute to the research. And with a donation bring home a sweet symbol made with great care. I would take advantage of it »says chef Esposito.
Also among the testimonials of the campaign Pippo Pelo, busy these days. “To make a difference, we need to spread the initiative to friends and relatives. We must be spokespersons for the OPEN mission, he stresses the voice of Radio Kiss Kiss».
The contribution is 12 euros, for both chocolate and ceramic eggs, 45 euros for the dove. For any information www.openonlus.org.
