One of the largest American trading platforms eBay is going to accept payments in cryptocurrencies, market sources say.
The American edition of The Steet was the first to publish the news, referring to the desire of the company’s CEO Jamie Iannone, the company plans to announce something as early as March 10th.
According to the CEO of one of the largest marketplaces, innovation is required to attract younger customers.
Market experts suggest that this can be either a full-fledged launch of accepting payments in digital currencies, or just a launch announcement.
According to Iannone, eBay is now managing $85 billion in capital and expanding payment options:
“We have Google Pay and Apple Pay and we have a partnership with Afterpay. We continue to evaluate other forms of payments that should be added to the site. But right now we don’t accept cryptocurrencies,” Iannone told reporters.
eBay is trying to attract more customers from the millennial generation, and numerous surveys, according to The Street, show that cryptocurrencies are the best way to do this.
Until recently, eBay avoided the issue of digital currencies, but in the middle of last year, the company announced that users would be able to buy and sell NFTs on its platform.
