ECB: There is still a way to go in relation to the inflation of services – Philip Lane

The chief economist of the European Central Bank, Philip Lane, said Tuesday that there is still a certain distance to travel in relation to the inflation of services, according to Reuters.

Key aspects

“We have enough confidence, bringing inflation to the target is largely completed.”

“Our monetary policy will have to take into account not only the most likely path (the base scenario) but also the risks to activity and inflation.”

“It will be important to explore how alternative rates are maintained in several sensitivity analysis and plausible scenarios.”

“The main task for those responsible for monetary policy is to ensure that any temporary deviation of the objective does not become long -term deviations.”

Market reaction

The EUR/USD largely ignores these comments and was last looked at 0.2% in the day to 1,1600.
