ECB: We should continue moving towards neutrality in measured steps – Boštjan Vasle

European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member Bostjan Vasle said on Thursday that “we should continue to move towards neutrality in measured steps.”

Additional comments

There is no urgency in discussing the possibility of missing the target or going below neutrality.

Inflation has not yet been defeated.

But recent data has been encouraging.

Once we move closer to neutrality, it may be appropriate to align our language accordingly.

A soft landing with a recovery remains the base case.

But the recent data presents some risks that could delay the expected improvement in growth.
