Eco-sustainable beauty: the 2021 wishlist

In 2021, many reached the awareness relying on holistic disciplines, a source of company and well-being in the spaces of the home. More awareness of yourself and what your body and mind need to feel good. A new language with which the world of beauty has also been able to speak by building narratives that have brought nature back to the center, combining the needs of the ecosystem with those of consumers. The need to escape and to feel immersed in green environments has led to the search for beauty products from organic ingredients, with essential and clean formulas to feel all the power of nature on the skin.

A positive trend that we will also carry in this 2021 and that has conquered the emotional sphere in search of textures with high sensoriality.

“Significant growth in consumer consciousness requires clean beauty in formula, packaging and process. Most of the most popular ethical claims include all natural, plant and botanical derived ingredients, all organic, free from, vegan, recycled packaging … Consumers want to engage with brands and their stories on a much deeper level than before”, says Irene Forte, founder of the Irene Forte Skincare brand and Wellness Director of Rocco Forte Hotels. Thanks to the raw materials grown on the organic farm of the Verdura Resort in Sicily, Irene has managed to create formulations rich in superfoods that bring all the nutritional benefits of the Mediterranean Diet to the skin.

It will, in fact, be a 2021 much more sustainable. This is the promise of many beauty brands that have announced their zero waste revolution, from Caudalie which will reach its milestone by the end of 2021, a Sephora, whose philosophy of inclusive and innovative beauty could only foresee the path towards sustainability. From actions used directly in the points of sale, to the project being implemented Good ForGood for You, with formule with a minimum of 90% ingredients of natural origin, Good for a better planet, i.e. ecological packaging and / or ingredients of sustainable origin, e Good for vegan: vegan products, without ingredients of animal origin.

A process that does not only concern the packaging of the products, but an effort that includes the entire life cycle of the supply chain. «Sustainability is a 360-degree approach and a constant path of improvement. Therefore, it is not enough to limit yourself to having an eco-compatible packaging. When I look at our sustainability, I am addressing people, communities and the planet. People are about supporting and pampering your team, and treating each member fairly and ethically, while providing a healthy environment, physically and emotionally. Community means supporting local and national communities through local manufacturing and sourcing, working with local people (such as artisans), supporting appropriate charities. Planet means defending and protecting the environment by monitoring and reducing the use of energy, water, plastic, finding intelligent and sustainable materials ”, adds Irene Forte.

The beauty news that await us have to do with the new green projects undertaken by brands that promise more effectiveness, more sustainability, more freedom. Choosing a product means sharing its history and its respect for the planet.

BEAUTY PACK FREE
Every action goes beyond the action itself, they claim from Face D, which with the launch of the new site takes the opportunity for a sustainable consumption choice by launching the pack free option. On faced.com you can choose to buy the product without packaging and leaflet: “We asked people what actions they do as soon as they receive the product at home: open the package, check that there is what you ordered, then throw away the product packaging and understand how to dispose of the shipping packaging “, says Chiara Sormani, founder of the brand. “The choice became clear: we could and should have lightened our impact on the environment”.

BIO REGENERATIVE COSMETICS
It is no longer enough to minimize the environmental impact but it is necessary to actively contribute to regenerating the planet to mitigate the climate crisis. It is with this belief and taking an innovative step forward that Comfort Zone has decided to invest in the line Sacred Nature, a clean organic line e CO2 negative whose formulation study was carried out in the Scientific Garden of Davines Village, the company headquarters in Parma. The selected plant extracts – elderflower, pomegranate peel and myrtle leaves selected for their extraordinary antioxidant qualities – were grown following the techniques ofregenerative agriculture, a methodology that contrasts the climate crisis by contributing to the sequestration of carbon from the soil, increasing its fertility, preserving its biodiversity and reducing air pollution.

GREEN SCIENCES
support Garnier undertakes, by 2025, to make all products free of virgin plastic, reusable, recyclable and compostable packaging and to have “carbon neutral” industrial sites. The green sciences they will be at the heart of the formulas. “We believe that extracting the best from nature in a sustainable way and maximizing its effectiveness through science is the best way to take care of skin and hair.” Green Sciences plan to transform natural raw materials into highly performing ingredients of natural origin through processes such as extraction and fermentation, in ways that respect the environment. Thanks to green chemistry it is possible to synthesize the performing ingredients using renewable vegetable raw materials, that is, they constantly regenerate with relatively short cycles (from a few days to a few decades), the duration of which is similar to their duration of use, all with a minimal environmental impact.
