The Canada March employment report showed numbers above expectations, which drove loonie into the market. The net change in employment was positive at 303,100 in March, the best month since September last year. The expectation was for an increase of 100,000. In February, 259,200 jobs had been created.
In March, full time jobs were 175,400 and those of part time at 127,800. The unemployment rate went from 8.2% to 7.5%, below the 8.0% expected. The participation rate rose from 64.7% to 65.2%.
Employment data pushed USD / CAD below 1.2550, the lowest level in three days.
