Economy grows 0.1% in December, below the 0.3% expected

The Canadian growth figures showed mixed numbers. In December, activity expanded at a rate of 0.1%, below the expected 0.3%. On the positive side, the November figures were revised up from 0.7% to 0.8%.

At fourth quarter the Canadian economy expanded at a rate of 9.6%, higher than 7.5%, expected by the market consensus. In the third quarter the expansion was 40.6% (revised from 40.5%).

The loonie was practically unchanged on the market after the data. USD / CAD is trading slightly higher around 1.2670.
