Back in Brazil after a week fulfilling schedules in the United States, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, 72, tested positive for Covid-19.
The information was confirmed by the ministry’s press office on Monday (25).
“This week’s in-person appointments have been cancelled. With mild symptoms and having taken the three doses of the vaccine, the minister maintained the agenda of virtual meetings and will remain in isolation ”, he said in a note.
Last week, the minister attended the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in Washington, United States. While there, Guedes also attended the G20 meetings and met with foreign investors.
Over the weekend, the minister returned to Brasília, where he will be in isolation.
This Monday, the minister’s agenda included internal dispatches with members of the economic team, such as the special secretary for Productivity and Competitiveness, Daniella Marques, the attorney general for the National Treasury, Ricardo Soriano, the special secretary for the Treasury and Budget, Esteves Colnago, and the special secretary for Debureaucratization, Management and Digital Government, Caio Paes de Andrade.
According to the folder, the appointments are kept, however, in virtual format.
