The presidential election in Ecuador will have a second round. The election is scheduled for October 15, as reported by the National Electoral Council (CNE), equivalent to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in the country.
The president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, informed that, with more than 60% of the ballot boxes counted, “the results already mark a tendency to guarantee that the Ecuadorians go to a second electoral round”.
In Ecuador, the second round occurs when no candidate reaches 40% of the votes and 10% more than the runner-up.
According to the CNE, by 12:10 am (BrasÃlia time) on Monday morning (21), 75% of the ballot boxes had already been counted. Luisa González leads with 33.2% of the votes, while Daniel Noboa has 24.05%.
Eight slates were entered to run for president and vice president. Find out who they are in this article and in the gallery below.
