At 9:40 pm this Sunday (20), the presidential elections in Ecuador already had almost 19.6% of the polls counted. So far, the scrutiny indicated a second round.
At this moment Luisa González appears ahead, with 32.97% of the votes; Daniel Noboa comes next, with 24.34%.
Christian Zurita, who replaces the murdered candidate Fernando Villavicencio, comes in third, with 16.38%.
In Ecuador, the second round occurs when no candidate reaches 40% of the votes and 10% more than the runner-up. An eventual presidential runoff is scheduled for October 15.
