Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who has been under medical supervision for the past six days after being infected with the Omicron mutation in the coronavirus, was discharged from the American Hospital in Istanbul this afternoon.
According to the announcement, His Holiness will remain in solitary confinement at the patriarchal residence in Therapeia for a few days, before returning to Fanari to celebrate the Epiphany.
Last night, in fact, the Turkish Minister of Health contacted him for the third time by phone, who inquired about the progress of his health and assured him that the services of the ministry would always be at his disposal.
For his part, the Patriarch, moved by the minister’s lively interest, thanked him warmly and wished him a happy new year, as well as good strength in his many months of efforts to combat Covid-19 in the country.
