Eddy Rama’s points about Greece’s stance on the Freddy Belleris case

The prime minister of the neighboring country, Edi Rama, left suggestions for Greece’s involvement in the internal affairs of Albania, after the victory of Freddy Belleris in the municipality of Heimarra. The prime minister of Albania devoted 10 minutes to the issue of the elections in Heimarra and the Beleri case, in the press conference he gave late yesterday evening to journalists for the May 14 municipal elections.

Its prime minister Albania openly hinted that in the case of the elections in Himara, it is the involvement of the Greek government for pre-election reasons in Greece, according to Panagiotis Barkas’ response to the ERT.

“I believe that the Greek minority is not fodder for anyone’s electoral cannons, neither in Albania nor in Greece”he added.

Also, referring to the Albanian judiciary, he said that despite its problems, it cannot be questioned and put under pressure by anyone, especially by foreign actors, meaning the Greek requests for knowledge of the incriminating evidence in the Beleri case.

In the same vein, he said that there are not two types of justice in Albania, one for Albanian citizens of Albanian nationality and one for Albanian and Greek citizens of Greek nationality.

He also said that the election process and counting of votes in Heimarra was done smoothly and transparently, with the presence of Greek diplomats as observers and the Greek and Albanian media. From this process, he said, the victory of the candidate opponent of the Government emerged, a victory which Rama did not dispute.

However, he separated the election result from the development in Beleris’ case with justice, pointing out that everything will depend on the decision of the special court that has the competence to hear such cases.
