EDP Renewables, the fourth largest renewable energy company in the world, secured two 15-year power supply contracts (PPAs) at the Brazilian A-4 2022 auction to sell 93MW of its 124MW clean energy of the total capacity of a new wind farm.
The wind farm is located in the state of Paraíba and is expected to start operating in 2025. With these new PPAs, EDPR has now secured 2.2GW capacity in South America, with a total guaranteed capacity of 9.8GW for the period 2021-25.
The success of the EDPR strengthens its low-risk profile and growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with a long-term perspective, promoting the acceleration of the energy transition and the emission of the economy from carbon emissions.
