Russian businessman Eduard Gurinovich said that he and his team have become the exclusive partner of the Hamster Kombat game in Russia – the project’s developers gave them the right to register the trademark due to a wave of scammers.

Journalists from the Telegram channel BRIEF reported that Russian IT businessman Eduard Gurinovich filed an application with Rospatent for the phrase “Hamster Kombat” on May 30. On June 5, Rospatent made a decision to register the corresponding trademark, although the application review and registration procedure usually takes from six months to a year.

The trademark registration documentation did not declare any financial services, but only indicated business intermediary services for the selection of private investors and businessmen in need of financing. In response to media publications, Eduard Gurinovich stated that he is a partner in the project:

“We have purchased the rights to the trademark and will be responsible for working with the local community. The project team has given us the right to officially register the trademark “HAMSTER KOMBAT” due to the growing wave of scammers around the world.”

In addition, Gurinovich’s team will be engaged in selling advertising for the Russian segment of the game.

The businessman from St. Petersburg is known to have founded the online used car auction CarPrice and the CarMoney lending service. In 2020, the entrepreneur, with the assistance of the Innopraktika Foundation, headed by Ekaterina Tikhonova, created a TikTok analogue called Yamolodets. In the winter of 2020, the platform was sold to Gazprom Media.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov stated that the popular mini-game Hamster Kombat in the Telegram messenger has a negative effect on Russians and should be banned.
