Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) was mocked and had his interview on the Argentine television network C5N interrupted on Sunday (22) when defending the carrying of weapons as “self-defense”. The parliamentarian is in the neighboring country to support Javier Milei, a right-wing candidate who adopted proposals similar to those of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Among them, arming civilians.
“I believe that Javier Milei has all the conditions to implement this policy (similar to that of the Jair Bolsonaro government) in Argentina, because there is no reason for Brazil to be like this and Argentina to be in crisis”, said Eduardo upon arriving at the committee Milei’s campaign campaign. “Putting firearms in the hands of citizens means providing conditions for them to have self-defense,” he continued.
Presenter of C5Njournalist and analyst Gustavo Sylvestre responded to Eduardo in an ironic way: “Argentina and Argentines are very generous for receiving these types of people… That’s why the Brazilians, logically, removed their father from power, fortunately”.
The parliamentarian’s interview was given to the channel in front of Milei’s campaign bunker, at the Hotel Liberdade, in Buenos Aires. O C5N is one of the most important TV channels in Argentina.
Eduardo Bolsonaro and other Brazilian parliamentarians were in Argentina on Sunday to demonstrate support for Milei’s candidacy. As revealed by Estadão Columna group of 69 deputies wrote a letter to be delivered to the libertarian candidate.
The document criticizes the current president, Alberto Fernández, one of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s main allies in Latin America. They cite the high inflation rate and try to link the Argentine left to authoritarian regimes.
