Eduardo Leite says he gives up remuneration as former governor of RS

The pre-candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Sul for the PSDB, Eduardo Leite, said, in a post on social media this Monday (20), that he will no longer receive the subsidy to which he would have been entitled as a former governor.

According to the toucan, according to state legislation, he would be entitled to receive 65% of R$40,000 monthly — which represents R$26,000 — for the period equivalent to the term he held as governor — three years and three months.

In the publication, Leite complained that he had been the target of fake news that indicated that he would have asked to receive a lifetime pension of R$ 40,000.

“Even if it is legal, transparent and within the ethical and moral rules that have always guided me in public life, I am giving up the remuneration to which I am entitled as a former governor,” he announced.

“And I do this so that we don’t give any space to these false, lying, malicious narratives that are being planted,” he said in a video.

Leite was in charge of the state until the end of March this year, when he resigned. He envisioned the possibility of participating in the presidential election, but later decided to be a pre-candidate for the Gaucho government again.
