Education Commission votes on summons of minister this Tuesday (16)

The Education Committee of the Chamber of Deputies decides on Tuesday (16) whether to summon the Minister of Education, Milton Ribeiro, to provide clarifications on the National Secondary Education Examination (Enem), government interference in the test and the stampede of servants of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Texeira (Inep), responsible for taking care of the Enem and Enade tests. This Monday (15), in Dubai, president Jair Bolsonaro said that Enem’s questions “are beginning to have the face of the government”.

The president of the Commission, Deputy Professor Dorinha (DEM-TO), told the CNN that the declaration is “very serious”, and that, therefore, he understands that the request to summon Milton Ribeiro to provide clarifications will be approved. The meeting is scheduled for 2 pm this Tuesday.

President of the Mixed Parliamentary Education Front, Deputy Professor Israel (PV-DF) used Twitter to criticize the president’s statement in Dubai. “Bolsonaro confessed, with all letters, that the government really interfered in Enem’s issues, as reported by Inep’s employees. Enem cannot belong to any government, it is a State policy and must be respected as such”, he assessed.

Last week, amidst the controversy over the dismissal of dozens of Inep coordinators, the president of the organization, Danilo Dupas, was heard by the deputies of the Education Commission. On the occasion, he guaranteed the realization of Enem and Enade and justified the dismissal of coordinators of the agency.

“I want to clarify that the 37 servers who made the positions available are managers and directly linked to Enem. These servers continue to be available for the positions until the publication of the act in the Official Gazette of the Union. These servers reinforced their commitment to continue working until the final dismissal process. These civil servants are not leaving Inep, they are career civil servants and will continue to fulfill their duties”, said Dupas last Wednesday.

A CNN contacted the Ministry of Education, questioned the folder about the government’s alleged interference in Enem and is awaiting a response.
