Eerie images of tornadoes in the US – Videos recorded by residents

Hundreds of homes have been damaged in the US Midwest by powerful tornadoes. At least three people were injured and about 11,000 homes are without power in the state of Nebraska, according to AlJazeera. Yesterday Friday, more than 70 tornadoes were recorded across the country, according to the US Weather Service (NWS), mainly around the city of Omaha in Nebraska and near Iowa. Photos taken by tornado chasers on social media show huge black tornadoes sweeping across the sky, blowing dust, dirt and anything else in their path. The BBC is also posting video from Lincoln, eastern Nebraska, where a resident filmed a tornado forming in the background. Tornadoes, a spectacular weather phenomenon that is difficult to predict, are relatively common in the US, especially in the central and southern parts of the country.
