EETT: Rejects Vodafone’s lawsuit against OTE’s new commercial programs

The request for an interim order to stop the approval of Cosmote’s fixed telephony and internet commercial programs submitted by Vodafone was rejected, according to information, by the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT).

The Plenary Session of EETT examined the positions of the two sides, which were developed during a special hearing last Friday, and decided today to continue the normal approval of Cosmote’s programs by doubling the speeds on fixed internet connections.

It is recalled that Vodafone has asked to stop the process on the grounds that the model, based on which the commercial policy of the largest telecommunications provider in the country is squeezing the profit margins of its competitors, is outdated.

The model has been in force since 2011 and is in the process of being revised, but it has not progressed at all since last March, when the relevant consultation was completed.

As Capital.gr had written, market sources state that after the rejection of Vodafone’s application, it is not excluded that the company will proceed with an intervention-appeal to the European Commission as the alternative providers estimate that the delays in changing the models cause problems in operation of the telecommunications market.
