By Thetis Gouliou, COO of efood
In an e-order landscape that has made leaps and bounds in recent years, efood has already completed 10 years of presence. It took several years for it to instill in the Greek public – both businesses and consumers – the new culture that brought to the forefront and focused on the rapid and reliable distribution of food, based on advanced technological tools. A culture that managed to strengthen even more during the pandemic, introducing its operating model to new markets in just a few months. The rapid penetration of efood in new markets lately is largely due to the know-how it has acquired over the years. Covid-19 may have helped speed up penetration of these new markets, but this would not have been possible without the know-how and culture of those in the market.
Another key component of efood’s philosophy is the integration of diversity. We believe that not only services but also the work environment are areas that determine the development of a business. Efood is among the employers that employ a significant number of employees, which currently exceeds 5,000 people. He even managed to win a series of awards for the working conditions he offers, at the institution Best Place to Work.
Indicative of the fact that diversity is at the heart of the company’s philosophy, is the fact that 52% of its human resources are made up of women. However, the proportion is maintained at the highest levels of management, with 46% of senior management level consisting of women.
In order to be able to achieve the acceptance and dissemination and respect of diversity and the integration it stands for, in all its staff, the company also gives importance to the education of its people. The goal is to recognize diversity and seek it in all its forms, regardless of gender, sexual identity or other characteristics of this form.
High in the daily operation of efood is the motto “better done than perfect”, which expresses and transmits the culture of flexibility, adaptability to the new conditions imposed by the times we live in. At the same time it leaves a field of action and offers freedom of expression to new ideas and the possibility of experimentation for all its staff.
This mentality brings to the fore from day to day fresh ideas and solutions, which we offer to our customers. My belief is that the key to success for a truly innovative business is to encourage initiative and draw stimuli. To improve its operation and the services it provides, taking advantage of the positives that result from a possible failure, which can ultimately be the beginning of creativity and new ideas.
