EGOSE: The restoration works on the line Airport – SKA were completed earlier

The works in the section between Three Bridges and the Railway Center of Acharnes (SKA) were completed earlier than planned, as a result of which the direct connection of the Suburban Railway from Piraeus and Athens with the airport was restored, as well as the connection of Liossia with the airport. on 14-12-21 instead of 16-12-21.

The works concerned the repair of a damage that had been caused due to an earlier derailment of an OSE train in a complex of line devices, at point 0 + 000 of the suburban line SKA – Airport.

The works were required through the decision No. 23/2020 of the Arbitration Court in the context of the Final Acceptance of the project contract entitled:

Construction of infrastructure works for a four-lane railway corridor in the section between Three Bridges and the Railway Center of Acharnes (SKA), infrastructure works for the completion of the SKA and all the required infrastructure works, signaling – remote control, railway, electric and railway in the section Three Bridges – SKA – New Athens Airport in Spata ”

By order of ERGOSE, the contractor consortium of the SUBURBAN RAILWAY “J&P AVAX SA – Ε.Τ.Ε.Θ.Α.Ε. – ALSTOM Transport SA”, started the necessary restoration works on 29-11-2021.

The cessation of traffic at this point, resulting in the reasonable inconvenience of the passenger public, was limited to the absolutely necessary period of 15 days.

The point was handed over to the traffic after the completion of the works and after the necessary and successful tests for the correct operation of the change devices.
