At least 27 people were injured when part of the stands of a basketball court in Cairo collapsed during a gameas announced by its Ministry of Health Egypt.
As reported by APE-MPE, part of a grandstand at the “Hassan Mostafa” stadium, located in the 6th of October neighborhood in the Giza region, collapsed and injured 27 spectatorssaid the representative of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghafar.
The basketball game between two local teams was called offnaturally, by decision of the Egyptian basketball federation.
More than 20 ambulances rushed to the stadium to transport the injured in hospitals. “Most have suffered non-life threatening injuries”Ghaffar reported.
The Egyptian authorities are conducting investigation to ascertain the causes of the collapse of the grandstand at the “Hasan Mostafa” stadium, which was inaugurated about two years ago.
