Egypt has asked the US to intervene to prevent the Tourkolibyan Memorandum from Tobrouk’s ratification, according to many regional officials at Middle East Eye. Egyptian official said that Cairo is concerned that if the Eastern Libyan parliament ratified the agreement – which was initially signed in 2019 by the western, opposing government of the country – tensions may arise in the Eastern Mediterranean, at a time when Egypt is trying to manage Egypt. One Egyptian and another regional official said that Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati raised the issue of US intervention in a telephone conversation last month with Massand Boulos, a senior US adviser.
