Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry today denounced Israel's attempt, as he said, to blame Egypt for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Shoukry added in a statement that Israel's seizure of the Rafah border crossing from Gaza to Egypt as well as its military operations in the area are the main reasons humanitarian aid cannot enter Gaza. Earlier, a high-ranking source told the Egyptian television network Al Qahera News that the closure of the Rafah crossing from Egypt to Gaza was due to the escalation of the Israeli attack on the border city and was not the responsibility of Egypt. With the statement, the source rejected comments by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz that Cairo must be “convinced” to reopen the Gaza crossing to allow aid to be delivered. Source: RES
