Egypt talks to create ‘security mechanism’ for Gaza truce deal

Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, the US and Israel are in Cairo to discuss the creation of a “security mechanism” to uphold the Gaza ceasefire agreement that will take effect on Sunday. Citing an informed Egyptian source, Al-Qahera News reported that technical meetings began today in Cairo “in order to establish mechanisms for the implementation of the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip with the participation of Egyptian, Qatari, American and Israeli groups.” During today’s talks, negotiators agreed to facilitate the entry of 600 aid trucks a day, as stipulated in the agreement, the source said. Trucks are waiting on the Egyptian side of the border, where the Egyptian Foreign Ministry appealed yesterday, Thursday, for a quick, safe and effective distribution of humanitarian aid.
