EIB: Awarded at Economist event for its achievements in digital banking

Award for the digital leap made by the National Bank during the last two years, offering pioneering electronic banking services to its customers, was awarded to the Bank’s Management during the event held by the Economist in Athens, on the topic of Technology and Innovation.

The award was received by the CEO of the Economist Alasdair Ross, the CEO of the National Bank Pavlos Mylonas, who stressed that this award is a recognition of the great investment that NBG has made and continues to make systematically in technology. He underlined that NBG currently has more than 2 million active digital customers, with a market share of 32%.

At the Economist event entitled ECONOMIST – TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION 2022, the distinguished speakers were the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the researcher and Director of Informatics of MIT Media Lab Michalis Bletsas, who spoke about the will bring about the dynamics of digital reform in Greece and the progress of artificial intelligence.

The National Bank stood out and was awarded for its technological achievements, along with 6 other of the largest Greek companies in other sectors (energy, telecommunications, shipping, construction) that stood out at this level and especially in the midst of the pandemic, where technology acquired even more important use and value for business customers, employees and the economy.

As mentioned in particular at the event, this award is given to the National Bank, which through technology has managed in recent years to introduce a new banking experience of digital service for its customers and the companies with which it cooperates.
