Eight Brazilians are invited to join the Oscar committee; see who they are

A Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a list of new members invited to participate in the entity that organizes the Oscar this Tuesday (25). In total, 487 artists and executives stood out for their contributions to cinema, eight of which were Brazilian.

Among the representatives from Brazil, professionals from different fields were chosen. They are:

  • Maeve Jinkings (“The Sound Around”) – actors
  • Juliana Rojas (“Good Manners”) – directors
  • José Joffily (“Symphony of a Common Man” and “Who Killed Pixote?”) – documentaries
  • Jorge Bodansky (“Amazonia, the New Minamata?”) – documentaries
  • Carlos Segundo (“Big Bang”) – animation
  • Plínio Profeta (“Desapega!”) – music
  • Renata de Almeida Magalhães (“The great mystical circus”) – producers
  • Tatiana Leite (“Rule 34”) – producers

In addition to them, names like Jessica Alba (“Fantastic Four”), Stephanie Beatriz (“Enchantment”), Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Greta Lee (“Past Lives” ), are among the new guests.

According to the Academy, among the class of 2024, 44% identify as women, 41% belong to “underrepresented ethnic/racial communities” and 56% are from countries and territories outside the United States. Additionally, there are 71 Oscar nominees, including 19 winners, among the guests.
