Eight people died from serious complications floods which broke out on Philippinesaccording to what the country’s civil protection authorities announced, while almost 46,000 were forced to leave their homes.

The Coast Guard reported that saved more than twenty families from the floods in the cities of Clarin and Ozamiz.
“The water rose up to the chest in some areas, but today (Monday) it stopped raining”, a member of the civil protection, Robinson Lacre, said by telephone from the city of Gingoug. Of the 45,700 people who were displaced from their homes, 33,000 lived in Gingug.
Four deaths, three from drowning, were reported in the neighboring towns of Jimenes and Tudela, in the southern part of the country.
Two more people, including a little girl, drowned in the towns of Libmanan and Tinbakin the eastern part of the country, the civil protection authorities announced.
Moreover two crew members of a fishing vessel lost their lives in the wreck of their vesseldue to strong winds on Christmas Day off the island of Leyte in the central Philippines, the coast guard said, adding that six other people were rescued.
