Eight dead from the torrential rains that hit Algeria on Saturday

Eight people died from the torrential rains which hit the west on Saturday Algeriaaccording to the report released today by the Civil Protection service.

Victims were swept away by rapids in Tlemcen and El Bayad.

In Tlemcen, in northwestern Algeria, the bodies of two women and two men, aged between 22 and 73, were found today. They were all in a car that was swept away when the river Oued ed Dally overflowed.

In El Bayad, in the south-west, four other people, three women and a man, drowned when their vehicle was swept away by the waters of the Oued Sadli River.

The national meteorological service had issued a dangerous weather bulletin on Friday, warning of torrential rains in the north of the country.
