Seeing their children vaccinated against Covid-19 is the wish of eight out of ten parents in the state of São Paulo. This is what reveals a survey carried out by the São Paulo government on immunization for children between 5 and 11 years old.

The survey, carried out on the last day of last Thursday (6), heard 1,127 people by phone in all regions. Of the total number of participants, 84% of parents responded that they intend to vaccinate their children against Covid-19. Among them, 87% live in Greater São Paulo and 81% in the countryside. Adherence reaches 91% among fathers and mothers with children in the public school system, against 78% in the private school system.

The government of São Paulo plans to vaccinate 4.3 million children from all cities in São Paulo in just three weeks. But for that it depends on the sending of pediatric doses of Pfizer, by the Ministry of Health and still needs the authorization of the National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance (Anvisa) for the use of Coronavac. The state says it already has 12 million doses of Coronavac ready for application to children.

Vaccination in children was approved by Anvisa on December 16, when it attested to the efficacy and safety of the Pfizer immunizer for the public between 5 and 11 years old. Even so, the Ministry of Health decided to hold a public consultation and hearing

This Monday (10), the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, said that the government managed to bring forward the delivery of another 600,000 doses of Pfizer’s childhood vaccine for January. As a result, the expected amount of the immunizer in the country this month rose to 4.3 million doses.
