Eight people arrested in Turkey for spying for Israel

Turkish authorities have arrested eight people, whom they accuse of spying for Israel. The Minister of the Interior, Ali Gerlikaya, with his post on Platform X, notes that the arrests were made following a joint police operation by the General Directorate of Security and the MIT intelligence service. Two of the eight arrested were remanded in custody and the other six were released with restrictive conditions. According to the indictment, the espionage ring is headed by a private detective who had contacts with MOSSAD agents, the Israeli spy agency, in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Among those arrested is his wife. At the beginning of the year, the Turkish authorities had arrested 34 people on the charge of spying for Israel, of which 26 were detained and eight were deported. Then, in two separate police operations in February and March, Turkish authorities brought in 16 more people on the same charge.
