Eight states and DF make mask use more flexible, and four should release use soon

A survey of CNN points out that, until this Sunday (13), eight states and the Federal District relaxed rules on the use of masks in open and closed spaces. In addition, another four should implement flexibilities in the coming days.

The easing measures are justified by the state governments by the drop in the number of deaths and contagions linked to the Covid-19as well as the advancement of vaccination.

The most recent easing to come into force was that of Minas Gerais, last Saturday (12). The state government released municipalities to decide on the use of masks both in open and closed places.

With that, the state joined seven others, Rio de JaneiroSanta Catarina, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Goiás and São Paulo, in addition to the Federal District.

The possibility not to wear masks in open places in Santa Catarina has existed since February 24, and a decree went into effect last Saturday that also allows the use in closed places.

In the case of Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Goiás and Sao Paulo, flexibility applies only to open spaces. In relation to Mato Grosso, the government released each municipality to decide whether or not to waive the obligation, and whether the release applies to open and closed places.

In the case of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal District, the population is no longer obliged to wear masks in open and closed environments.

Another four states are due to implement easing measures on masks this week. In Amazonas, Espírito Santo and Rondônia, the release will take place next Monday (14), in the case of the first two only in open places and, in the third, also in closed environments.

Rio Grande do Norte will make the use more flexible from Wednesday (16), but only in open places.

There is also Sergipe, whose government sent a bill to the Legislative Assembly that would repeal the law mandating the use of a mask in the state. The text has not yet been approved.

With this, the use of masks in any environment remains mandatory in Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Roraima, Tocantins, Acre, Amapá and Pará.
