Tomorrow the English Court will propose to the unions a plan to face the impact that the pandemic is having on their business and what happens, among other things, to do a staff cut that will affect 3,000 people.
“The goal is to adapt to new circumstances and adapt the company’s resources to current needs “, according to sources close to the company have confirmed.
From this figure, 2,500 will affect store personnel and about 500 will be from central structures. They will be, these sources explain, “voluntary departures”. The commercial network has been the most affected by the pandemic, since from March to May the shopping centers were closed, except for the food section.
Meeting tomorrow
The department store group, which employs around 90,000 people, has called a meeting for tomorrow, Saturday at eleven o’clock, with the unions, to which a voluntary plan to reorganize the workforce will be proposed, as confirmed union sources.
Another of the measures contemplated in the plan is the closure of some centers. Weeks ago, in fact, the closure of the one in Linares, in Jaà © n, was already announced.
The health crisis has had a strong impact on the group’s business, since many shopping centers have seen their activity limited due to trade restrictions in some autonomous communities. In fact, the company suffered a 41% drop in its billing in its first fiscal semester (from March to August).
