The strategic importance of the construction and operation of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal of Alexandroupolis for energy security and the diversification of the existing sources of natural gas supply throughout the SE. The mayor of Alexandroupolis, Giannis Zampoukis, and the governor of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Christos Metios, were honored from Alexandroupolis, where the event marking the official start of the big FSRU project took place, while the shareholder and president of Gastrade Elmina Kopelouzou stressed in her message that the LNG terminal is coming to meet an urgent national and European need.

“The energy map is changing, today a new important node is added, Alexandroupolis. A new energy gate is opening in this remote city not only for our country but for the whole of Southeastern Europe,” said Ms. Kopelouzou. The mayor of the city, Giannis Zamboukis, welcomed the participants in the event for the FSRU Alexandroupolis at the “new energy portal for all of Greece and Europe”.
