El Salvador sent “Miss Bitcoin” to win the crown of “Miss Universe 2023”

A Miss Universe contestant from El Salvador represented the country that was the first in the world to accept cryptocurrency as legal tender in a bitcoin-inspired costume.

During the show of national costumes, at the world beauty pageant in New Orleans, “Miss Salvador” Alejandra Guajardo (Alejandra Guajardo) walked out in a dress representing the “evolution of the currency of El Salvador.”

The costume was designed by artist Francisco Guerrero and, according to the creator, should represent the country’s path from the colon, the first national currency, to bitcoin, which replaced the US dollar in 2021.

In comments to the media, Guajardo said she welcomes the adoption of bitcoin and considers her homeland “a country with a true vision of positive change in the future.”

Recall that in January, El Salvador’s Congress approved a digital securities law that will allow the country to raise funds using the world’s first sovereign bond on the Bitcoin blockchain.
