Elbrus processors in teapots and light bulbs: Russian chipsets may appear on the IoT market

The Deputy General Director for Marketing at MCST JSC, which develops microprocessors and computer systems, believes that Russian Elbrus processors have a chance to gain a foothold in the Internet of Things market. This was reported by the newspaper “Krasnaya Vesna”.

Konstantin Trushkin noted that the company will be able to enter the Internet of Things market, since Elbrus processors have important advantages, although it will be very difficult to do this without government support. The deputy director of MCST JSC also said that the creation of computing systems for IoT depends on the market itself and regulation.

Domestic Elbrus processors have a secure computing technology that fully guarantees protection against vulnerabilities such as “buffer overflow” and other attacks. According to Trushkin, the issue is mainly related to the transfer of the necessary set of software for the implementation of such tasks, and it is quite possible to do this.
