Elderly man has gallbladder removed after being admitted for hemorrhoid surgery in the interior of SP

A 72-year-old man had his gallbladder removed after being hospitalized for hemorrhoid surgery, at Santa Casa de Birigui, in the interior of São Paulo, on Tuesday morning (11).

According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, the victim’s daughter reported that after the surgical procedure, the man began to feel pain in his stomach. When he questioned the professionals about the discomfort, he was informed that he had undergone surgery to remove the gallbladder, despite having been hospitalized for the removal of hemorrhoids.

A CNN , Santa Casa de Birigui reported this Friday (14) in a note that it “became aware of the episode that occurred in the institution’s surgical center” and that it “initiated the Inquiry procedure to investigate the facts”. The institution also highlighted that “it will take the appropriate administrative and legal measures.”

When contacted, the Regional Council of Medicine of the State of São Paulo (Cremesp) reported that “it has not yet been officially notified about the case.”

In a note, the SSP-SP declared that the case was registered as a bodily injury by the 2nd Police District of Birigui.
