A 75-year-old woman died last Sunday night (17) after heavy rain in the Vila Verde region, close to São Miguel Paulista, in the east of São Paulo.
According to the State Civil Defense, intense rain hit the vicinity of Maria Pinto Labiapari Lane at around 6:50 pm. Due to the flooding, the water reached a height of 2 meters and reached a house.
The elderly woman, identified as Valdete Borges de Oliveira, was inside the house and was rescued by neighbors. She was taken to Tide Setúbal hospital, also in the east zone, but did not survive.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, forensics were called to the scene and the case was registered as a sudden death at the 63rd DP (Vila Jacuí).
Rain leaves one missing
A man was also a victim of the heavy rains that occurred in São Miguel Paulista last Sunday.
According to the State Civil Defense, the victim was swept away by the water at around 6:20 pm, near Avenida Barão Luis de Arariba, in Vila Curuçá, and remains missing.
Also according to the agency, the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (Cemaden) recorded an accumulated 55 millimeters of rain in 12 in the region where the death and disappearance occurred.
