A polling station sent the Dutch health minister home to get a valid passport after he went to the polls today on national elections with one expired, reports APE.
Hugo de Jongge, who is leading the national pandemic effort, tried to vote in his car at a Rotterdam polling station.
“And one more tip: take a VALID ID with you,” he later wrote on his Twitter account, using the hashtag “slut.”
The Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad quoted the top official at the polling station as saying that the rules of the electoral process could not be circumvented for the sake of a politician.
Today is the third and final day of the national elections in the Netherlands, which are considered a “referendum” for the management of the pandemic by the conservative government.
De Jong belongs to the center-right party in the ruling coalition, which is expected to remain in power.
