THE Sinan Oganwho came third at Turkish presidential election of last week, announced that he was offering his support to Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the second round on May 28. It is recalled that Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kilicdaroglu are the two candidates vying for the presidency of the country, with the first to have already achieved a very important victory in the first roundgaining a significant lead.
The support of far-right Sinan Ogan, who garnered 5.2% of the vote, is expected to give an extra boost to Erdogan, who is marching for the renewal of his 20-year term. “I ask the voters who voted for us in the first round to vote for Erdogan in the second round,” Ogan said.
It is recalled that in the May 21 elections, Erdogan secured 49.5% of the vote, while the Kemal Kilicdaroglu, candidate of a motley alliance of six opposition parties, 45% of votes. As no candidate received 50% of the vote, a second round of presidential elections was called, pitting the two against each other.
