Today, Huawei’s rotational chairman of the board gave some interesting insights into the company’s electric vehicle division – and even entire platforms. At the moment, three large Chinese companies are preparing their cars on the Huawei platform. These are Changan, Guangzhou Automobile (aka GAC Motor) and BAIC, all of which will release new items under subsidiary brands – this is a common practice for Chinese companies. BAIC has already introduced such a brand – Arcfox, and the first car under the new brand will be launched in China in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to the top manager, this year alone, Huawei is investing $ 1 billion in the development of electric car platforms and auto components – the company’s intentions in this market are very serious. Moreover, in this niche Huawei is not going to go beyond the home market. More precisely, she would not mind leaving, but with the current US sanctions it will not be easy. Therefore, Huawei will be quite satisfied with its presence only in the Chinese market, the capacity of which is 30 million cars per year (and even more in the future).

During the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show (it will open its doors this week) Huawei will showcase its latest developments in the automotive industry, and there will be a lot of interesting things. For example, Xu Zhijun promised a comprehensive solution that will allow electric vehicles to cover 1000 km on a single charge in the city … in automatic mode! According to the top manager, even Tesla has never dreamed of this.
