Electric vehicle home charging spending to exceed $16 billion in 2026

A new study by analyst firm Juniper Research has predicted a rapid rise in the popularity of charging electric vehicles at home. Analysts expect EV home charging spending worldwide to exceed $16 billion in 2026. This is an increase of almost five times compared to $3.4 billion in 2021. According to Juniper Research experts, the rapid growth is due to the fact that charging at home is cheaper and more convenient compared to charging at public stations.

The authors of the study Electric Vehicle Charging: Key Opportunities, Challenges and Market Forecasts 2021-2026 estimate that by 2026, more than 21 million households worldwide will be charging their electric vehicles at household outlets, compared to 2 million in 2021. The cost of the relevant equipment in 2026 will reach $5.5 billion. Last year, home chargers were sold and installed for $1.8 billion.
