The subsidy for electricity and gas bills will continue in February, as government spokesman G. Economou stressed today.
Mr. Economou focused on the government’s moves to support households and businesses from the waves of precision. As he said in the regular briefing, “in the last 4 months of 2021, 1.35 billion euros have been allocated to subsidize electricity and gas bills for households, businesses and farmers. In January alone, 400 million euros were allocated, while a corresponding amount will be available in February. ”
According to information, the electricity subsidy for February will be a little lower than in January, as last month we had, albeit a small, decline in the average wholesale electricity.
Specifically, the average price in January was € 227.30 / MWh compared to € 235.38 / MWh in December, with the result that the subsidy that will be granted is estimated at 10 euros / MWh lower. In particular, all the benefits of the main residence will be subsidized, regardless of income, area of residence or provider in stages: for the first 150KWh with 150 € / Mwh and for the next 150 Kwh with 110 € / Mwh. That is, the total for the subsidy will rise to 39 euros / month from 42 euros / month in January.
At the same time, all non-household tariffs (agricultural, commercial, industrial, professional, other uses, etc.) will be subsidized horizontally, regardless of size and voltage level (Low, Medium, High Voltage). The unit price of the subsidy will remain at € 65 / MWh. It is noted that for the support of the companies that are connected to the Medium Voltage, the suspension of the payment of Utility Services (SGI) is valid from last November.
As far as natural gas is concerned, the government subsidy, according to the same information, will remain stable at € 20 per thermal MWh for all providers, and for the total monthly consumption. Finally, for non-household gas consumers, the February subsidy will be at € 20 / Mwh instead of € 30 / MWh in January.
